Home and family are magic words to american culture

This time the movie is a Fritz Lang, Clash by Night.

A woman returns home. She knows she doesn't belong anywhere. Her sophisticated life in the city ended up when her lover died. Now she wants a quiet and comfortable life, to be protected by a steady and loyal man. She finds him, a new family and a real home, but she'll have to overcome her wild and restless nature. Perhaps this is the old human conflict between "me" and "us".

Home and family are magic words to american culture. American cinema reveals this importance.

"If Miss Honeychurch ever takes to live as she plays it would be very exciting, both for us and for her" (A Room with a view)

In A Room with a view there's a dialogue that I could never forget:
May I say something rather daring?
Oh Mr. Beebe, you sound like Miss Lavish. Don't say you're writing a novel too.
If I were, you'd be my heroin, and I should write: If Miss Honeychurch ever takes to live as she plays, it would be very exciting, both for us and for her.

If you have read the book or watched the movie you know that Miss Honeychurch was smart enough (and lucky) to make the right choice and live as she plays Beethoven...
My dear friends, are we living as we play, sing, dance, draw, paint, ...? If not, what are we waiting for?
